Military families are the unsung heroes behind every great service member. Their sacrifices — frequent relocations, long periods apart, community isolation, and financial challenges — are made in quiet service to our nation. These hardships often mean summer camp for kids or a family vacation remains out of reach.
They deserve a chance to recharge, reconnect, and rediscover the healing power of the great outdoors.
In honor of the sacrifices military families make every day, the Armed Services YMCA is partnering with the National Park Service to give a heroic military family the chance to experience one of America’s greatest wonders: Grand Teton National Park.
All active duty junior-enlisted U.S. military families (E-6 and below) are invited to enter the Heroes in the Great Outdoors: Military Family Giveaway. Simply share why your family loves the great outdoors, along with a family photo. The family’s story that receives the most votes wins an all-expense-paid trip to Grand Teton National Park!

The giveaway is open to all junior enlisted U.S. military families (E-6 and below) from any branch of service. Active Duty, National Guard, and Reserve families are welcome to apply.
To enter, submit a short story about why your family loves the great outdoors, along with a family photo, through the official entry form at asymca.org/outdoors during the entry period.
Yes. Entries must be submitted by 11:59 PM PT on July 6, 2025. Late entries will not be accepted.
Entries will be displayed in a public gallery. The family whose entry receives the most public votes during the voting period will be declared the winner.
Voting is open from July 9 to 23, 2025. Anyone can vote, but each person may cast only one vote.
No. Each person is allowed to vote only once — so choose carefully!
The winning family will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to Grand Teton National Park, courtesy of the National Park Service.
The winning family will be announced on July 31, 2025, via ASYMCA’s official Facebook page and website.
